Looking to Make a Difference in the Community
November 24, 2008
As part of our community outreach mission, FortGroup recently committed to the American Cancer Society’s 2009 Relay for Life.
It has sadly become part of our common understanding that cancer is so widespread that it affects all of us in some way. This year alone in the United States, there were nearly 1.5 million new cases of cancer diagnosed. Right now, over 10 million people live with this disease. The funds raised by Relay for Life support the American Cancer Society’s programs for cancer research, education, and patient/family services.
Our team has begun fundraising efforts toward our participation in the 24 hour relay scheduled for March 2009 at Pedro Menendez High School here in St. Augustine, Florida. While a 24 hour relay sounds a bit challenging to those of us over 50, we realize it is nothing compared to the challenges faced by children and adults battling cancer.
We’ve set our goals high for a first year team. So to reach those goals we’ll need the support of friends, family, and colleagues. Please consider clicking on the link below to read more about Relay for Life, our team, and how YOU can help find the cure for cancer!
